December 6: My Top 10 Christmas Movies

Watching Christmas movies is one of my favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit! It helps that there are so many great movies out there that are centered around or on the holidays.

So in an effort to keep a post relatively short and sweet for once, let’s dive right in! The pictures are links to Amazon if you wish to get the movie! Though most people can find these on Apple TV or Netflix!

In my personal order of favorites:

Love Actually

Elf

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – people who know Harry Potter will know that this IS a movie to watch during the holiday season!

Die Hard – If you don’t consider this a Christmas movie then you need to go watch it again.

Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! – Cartoon

Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Jim Carrey

*Joyeux Noël – Go watch this right now if you haven’t seen it. While it isn’t my favorite Christmas movie, I couldn’t move it any lower on this list. This movie is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. It is in French, German, and English but there are subtitles. DON’T let this deter you. If you need your faith in humanity restored watch this.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

The Nutcracker – Ballets count!

Home Alone

*The Sound of Music – I threw this on here for my mom. This is one of my absolutely favorite movies but I don’t necessarily attribute it to Christmas. She does because growing up this movie came out on TV every Christmas, which was the only way to watch it back then. It was a big deal because they could stay up until 11 PM watching it.

There are glaring holes in my Christmas movies – some that I haven’t seen and others that I honestly don’t care for a whole lot. I’m not the biggest fan of A Christmas Story but I probably need to watch it again.

Here is the list of Christmas movies I have never seen (Sean would be and was a bit horrified I hadn’t watched these classics) but they are on my list to watch this holiday season!

  • White Christmas
  • Miracle on 34th Street
  • It’s a Wonderful Life
  • A Christmas Carol

Who’s going to bring the tissues?? I can count more easily the movies I haven’t cried in than the ones I have. What can I say, I can be a very emotional person and I get SO sucked into movies SO quickly. I have even been known to tear up in really good trailers.
